Showing Off

Okay, so I'm showing off a bit because I'm excited.  After owning the same "boombox" (at least that's what it was when I got it) for over a decade- the first machine I ever owned for playing CD's in my room - WOW 1999 looping over and over - the soundtrack to Space Jam rocking as I cleaned my room (you know, those three or four times) - it finally let go.  It still workson occasion, but as I put in my favorite CD's (yes, I'm one of few people on the planet who still doesn't use an MP3 player) for background music while cooking or doing dishes, the times it played the music were getting fewer and further between.  My beloved needed to be replaced.  And this is the beaut that gave it the boot:

Isn't it dazzling?  Shiny and red and just perfect for my Coca-Cola themed kitchen.

Why am I posting about this here?  Because I got this baby for FREE.  You know all that yakking I do about Swagbucks or writing reviews for Viewpoints, or even way back when I posted about the $20 amazon.com gift card for only $10 (which I got for free after three friends bought it, too)?  All of these things pay for my frivolous little purchases that just make me smile inside - like a shiny red retro-style stereo to adorn the top of my refrigerator.

Viewpoints: $10 Amazon Gift Card

Viewpoints is once again offering a $10 gift card for members who write 10 qualifying reviews between February 14 and February 23.  Now, it's only been two weeks since their previous promotion ended and the rules specify they have 30 days to get the cards out, so I still haven't gotten that one - which means if you haven't received yours, don't worry and don't think it's not worth it!  Typically their promotions don't run this close together, so this is actually exciting to be able to get started earning another card so soon!  Woohoo!  Want details?  Check them out here.  All I can say is, if you've read these posts before but never did anything with them, now is your chance!  Get going on those reviews!

Viewpoints: $11 Amazon Gift Card

Viewpoints is at it again!  In honor of 2011, you can earn an $11 Amazon gift card for writing 11 reviews before January 31, 2011.

If you haven't taken part in one of these promotions before, what are you waiting for?  It's so easy to review things you use every day in your own home (shampoo, face wash, make-up, blender, toaster, computer, etc.).  Your reviews do have to be 900 characters, but there is a little indicator at the top of the text box for the review which lets you know how you're doing.  They don't have a tracker to let you know you have officially qualified for the gift card, so you just have to be ultra-sure you're following the rules.  You'll get the gift code in your inbox about two weeks after the end of the promotional period!

Here are the rules as stated by Viewpoints:

Qualifying reviews must:

• be written between January 20th and January 31st, 2011.

• be at least 1 full paragraph long (900 characters).

• fall within these categories:  Home & Garden, Family & Pets, Health & Beauty, Kitchen (excluding food and beverages), Computers and Electronics.

• be about real products; inappropriate, copied or bogus content will be removed.
